Recombinant protein antigens – Because nature knows best!

Major Histocompatability Complex (MHC) II, found on antigen presenting cells, is an integral part of the antibody production process. MHCII molecules select and present the host immune system with antigen and have been optimized for this process by nature over millions of years. They naturally select the best epitopes for an immune response, preferring whole protein antigens over peptides. This ultimately produces antibodies that recognize the natural conformation of the target protein, allowing higher binding affinity in all circumstances i.e. in intact or partial protein samples.

All purpose antibodies for all applications

Proteintech antibodies have been designed and raised against the whole recombinant protein, rather than a single peptide antigen. This gives our antibodies superior protein recognition capabilities and versatility, meaning you can use them in any application. In many assays, epitopes are destroyed or hidden; for example, the cross-linking process of IHC severely compromises protein structure. In these situations, antibodies raised against a peptide will normally lose their effectiveness as they recognize only one epitope – there is a higher chance of losing the recognition site for that antibody entirely. Whole protein antigen-generated antibodies however, are a mixture of many IgGs specific for the target protein, so even if many epitopes are lost there is a much higher probability of successful binding.
