Product Information

KE00071 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The Mammaglobin A ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous Mammaglobin A. The assay recognizes human Mammaglobin A. An antibody specific for Mammaglobin A has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The Mammaglobin A protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another antibody specific for Mammaglobin A is added to detect the captured Mammaglobin A protein. For signal development, horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody is added, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information

Mammaglobin A, also known as SCGB2A2, is a member of the secretoglobin superfamily. Mammaglobin A is expressed in normal mammary gland epithelium and is over-expressed in primary and metastatic human breast cancers, making it a specific molecular marker and a potential therapeutic target for breast cancer. Secreted Mammaglobin protein has been detected in the sera of some breast cancer patients and not in sera of patients with other tumor types, indicating Mammaglobin as a serum marker for breast cancer.
