Product Information

KE00247 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The VEGF-D ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous VEGF-D. The assay recognizes human VEGF-D. An antibody specific for VEGF-D has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The VEGF-D protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another antibody of biotinylated specific for human VEGF-D is added to detect the captured human VEGF-D protein. For signal development, Streptavidin-HRP is added, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information

Vascular endothelial growth factor-D (VEGF-D) is a secreted glycoprotein that can activate VEGF receptors on the endothelium, is a mitogen for endothelial cells and promotes the growth and remodeling of blood vessels and lymphatic vessels. VEGF-D undergoes a complex proteolytic maturation, generating multiple processed forms which bind and activate VEGFR-2 and VEGFR-3 receptors. VEGF-D has been established to be over-expressed in both tumor tissues and patients' serum samples in several types of human cancer.
