Background Information
HOXA9, also known as HOX1G, belongs to the Abd-B homeobox family and transiently interacts with PRMT5 in TNF-alpha stimulated endothelial cells. HOXA9 is methylated on Arg-140 by PRMT5and methylation is critical for E-selectin induction. HOXA9 as a sequence-specific transcription factor which is part of a developmental regulatory system that provides cells with specific positional identities on the anterior-posterior axis. HOXA9 is required for induction of E-selectin and VCAM-1, on the endothelial cells surface at sites of inflammation. HOXA9 is 30 kDa, but methylation of HOXA9 is about 35-40 kDa. (PMID: 10082572)
