Background
PROM1, also named as PROML1, CD133 and AC133, belongs to the prominin family. PROM1 interacts with PCDH21 and with actin filaments. CD133 is a cance stem cell marker. Defects in PROM1 are the cause of retinitis pigmentosa type 41 (RP41)which also known as retinal degeneration autosomal recessive prominin-related. Defects in PROM1 are the cause of cone-rod dystrophy type 12 (CORD12). Defects in PROM1 are the cause of Stargardt disease type 4 (STGD4). Defects in PROM1 are the cause of retinal macular dystrophy type 2 (MCDR2). The antibody recognizes transcript variant 1,2,3 of PROM1. |
