Background Information
Selenophosphate synthetase 1 (SEPHS1) has been implicated in the maintenance of redox homeostasis in chondrocytes and its deficiency plays a causal role in the progression of osteoarthritis (PMID: 36202216). SEPHS1 downregulation in human umbilical vein cells (HUVECs) led to cell death rather than the inhibition of cell proliferation (PMID: 33622411).
