Background Information

HAL, also named as Histidase and HIS, catalyzes the nonoxidative elimination of the α-amino group of histidine. It is closely related to the important plant enzyme phenylalanine ammonia-lyase. HAL has some isoforms with MW 73 kDa, 65 kDa and 49 kDa.
