Background Information

JMJD4 (JmjC domain-containing protein 4, Jumonji domain-containing protein 4) is a member of the JmjC domain-containing proteins. Several JmjC domain-containing proteins have been reported to play a crucial role in the control of gene expression by acting as protein hydroxylases or histone demethylases (PMID: 16983801; 21300889). The function of JMJD4 protein remains unknown. The gene of JMJD4 maps to chromosome 1q42.13.
