Background Information

SPANXA1, also named as SPANXA and SPANXA2, is a member of the SPANX family of cancer/testis-associated genes. It encodes differentially expressed testis-specific proteins that localize to various subcellular compartments. On Western blots of human testis proteins, SPANX antibodies reacts with the bands migrating between 15-30 kDa. The SPANX protein may be a useful target in cancer immunotherapy.
