Although it retains the prototypical multi-domain architecture (signal peptide ‑ pro‑domain ‑ metalloprotease-like ‑ disintegrin ‑ cysteine-rich ‑ EGF-like ‑ TM ‑ cytoplasmic tail), it lacks the consensus HEXGHXXGXXHD zinc-binding motif, rendering it proteolytically inactive .
