Glycerokinase, also known as glycerol kinase (GK, EC 2.7.1.30), is a widely conserved phosphotransferase that catalyzes the ATP-dependent phosphorylation of glycerol to generate sn-glycerol-3-phosphate (G3P). Glycerokinase exists as four isoforms with apparent molecular masses of 61 kDa, 57 kDa, 61 kDa, and 58 kDa.
