Hintergrundinformationen

NEIL3 belongs to the FPG family. It is a functional DNA glycosylase in vitro and in vivo. NEIL3 plays a role in repairing FapyG in vivo. (PMID:20185759) NEIL3 has AP lyase activity specific for single-stranded DNA.(PMID:19170771). NEIL3 is specifically expressed in brain areas where neurogenesis takes place during development and that its expression is tightly regulated both temporally and spatially (PMID:19426544). Studies have shown that NEIL3 is recruited to the DSB sites through its GRF zinc finger motifs and plays an important role in MMC/cisplatin-ICL repair by promoting the HR step in FA/BRCA pathway.(PMID: 36351389).
