Hintergrundinformationen
SNX16,Sorting nexin 16, is a member of the sorting nexin family. Members of this family contain a phox (PX) domain, which mediates membrane association by interaction with phosphoinositides. SNX16 associates with late endosome membranes as is involved in tubule formation, cholesterol transport, and transport of tetraspanin CD81. It also inhibits cell migration and tumorigenesis. SNX16 directs the sorting of EGFR to the endosomal compartment and thus regulates EGF-induced cell signaling (PMID:15292396). It may function in the trafficking of proteins between the early and late endosomal compartments. SNX16 was detected 49-53 kDa in human (PMID:12813048).
