It mainly serves as a histone methylation "reader" protein that binds lysine 4 (H3K4me0, H3K4me1, H3K4me3) in different methylation states on histone H3, and is involved in the regulation of chromatin structure and gene expression. In addition, ZCWPW2 protein plays an important role in meiosis and germ cell development, and its function is closely related to PRDM9 protein, which may be a key interacting protein in the mechanism of double-strand break repair or recombination.
