In cancer research, the expression levels of RBM18 are associated with the invasive and metastatic capabilities of tumors. For instance, RBM18 may act as a tumor suppressor in certain types of cancer by regulating the expression of specific genes to inhibit tumor cell proliferation. Therefore, RBM18 is considered a potential tumor suppressor.
