Background
CD155, also known as poliovirus receptor (PVR) or nectin-like protein 5 (NECL-5), is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein which belongs to the nectin and nectin-like family of immunoglobulin superfamily receptors. Mature mouse CD155 consists of a 318 aa extracellular domain, a 24 aa transmembrane segment, and a 38 aa cytoplasmic tail. CD155 plays roles in cell motility, and natural killer and T cell-mediated immunity. It binds to two receptors of NK cells, CD96 and CD226, and accumulates at cell-cell contact sites, leading to the formation of mature immune synapses between NK cells and target cells.
