Background Information

CCDC157 is a member of the coiled‐coil domain‐containing (CCDC) family proteins, wich have a conserved coiled‐coil motif that is responsible for molecular recognition and protein refolding. CCDC157 is highly expressed in the testes from Drosophila to mammals. Bioinformatics database analysis suggests that CCDC157 expression is significantly decreased in NOA patients (PMID: 30741974). An in vitro study has reported that CCDC157 is localized on Golgi membranes along the secretory pathway and interacts with resident proteins of ER‐Golgi membranes (PMID: 31488582).
