Background Information
Coagulation factor XIII (FXIII) is a blood proenzyme that catalyzes intermolecular cross-linking of fibrinogen and is involved in the clotting cascade. Factor XIII is composed of two catalytic FXIIIa and two protective/regulatory FXIIIb subunits. FXIIIb is the carrier/regulatory protein of its partner FXIIIa subunit.
