CD3E encodes the protein CD3-epsilon polypeptide, also named as FLJ18683, T3E and TCRE. CD3-epsilon is a T-cell surface glycoprotein and an essential component of the T-cell receptor (TCR) 3 complex, along with CD3-gamma, -delta and –zeta, for antigen presentation. CD3-epsilon plays a dual role within TCR3: it initiates receptor assembly within the endoplasmic reticulum and mediates signal transduction during antigen recognition, thus it is essential for T-cell development. Individuals carrying defects in this gene display immunodeficiencies such as severe combined immunodeficiency. The molecular weight of CD3E is 23kd and it is not glycosylated. The molecular weight of CD3E is 23kd and it is not glycosylated. This kit can be used to test for the presence of CD3-epsilon in vivo(serum or plasma.)
