Background Information

IMPG2, also named as IPM200, is a Chondroitin sulfate- and hyaluronan-binding proteoglycan involved in the organization of interphotoreceptor matrix. IMPG2 is part of an extracellular complex occupying the interface between photoreceptors and the retinal pigment epithelium in the fundus of the eye. It may participate in the maturation and maintenance of the light-sensitive photoreceptor outer segment and binds heparin. IPMG2 occupies the subretinal space between the apices of the retinal pigment epithelium and the neural retina.
