Product Information

KE10107 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The mouse Tnfrsf11b ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous mouse Tnfrsf11b. The assay recognizes mouse Tnfrsf11b. An antibody specific for mouse Tnfrsf11b has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The mouse Tnfrsf11b protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for mouse Tnfrsf11b is added to detect the captured mouse Tnfrsf11b protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information

TNFRSF11B, also known as Osteoprotegerin (OPG) or OCIF, is a member of the tumor necrosis factor receptor super family (TNFRSF). It is a secreted glycoprotein that inhibits osteoclastogenesis and is involved in the regulation of bone density. Osteoprotegerin acts as decoy receptor for receptor activator of nuclear factor-kappa B ligand (RANKL) and neutralizes its function in osteoclastogenesis. Osteoprotegerin may function as a soluble decoy receptor for tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-related apoptosis inducing ligand (TRAIL) and inhibits TRAIL-induced apoptosis. TRAIL blocks osteoprotegerin mediated inhibition of osteoclastogenesis.
