Background Information
ZNF394 (zinc finger protein 394) is a C2H2-type zinc finger protein belonging to the Krüppel C2H2-type zinc finger protein family. The protein contains three distinct domains: the N-terminus has two domains, LER and KRAB, and the C-terminus has seven C2H2 zinc finger domains. ZNF394 is predicted to have DNA-binding transcription factor activity and is involved in the transcriptional regulation of RNA polymerase II. Additionally, ZNF394, together with ZIM3, plays a key role in human embryonic development at the 8-cell stage by inhibiting the expression of genes specific to the 4-cell stage, thereby promoting embryonic development.
