Position Summary: 

Proteintech is looking to grow our capabilities at our Rosemont, IL facility to include regulated immunohistochemistry products.  As the IHC Scientist / Senior Scientist, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and developing processes to produce IHC antibodies that are used in research, as well as certified as IVD and ASR products.   The initial portfolio will be transferred from another location but new products will be continued to be added on a regular basis.   This person will ensure that products in the IHC workspace are manufactured with the highest level of quality and compliance in a safe and timely manner that will meet customer expectations.  The desired skillset for laboratory work includes the ability to perform immunohistochemistry (IHC) procedures and analytical analysis for product development and product support. Your work will mainly involve manual laboratory work and the use of automated stainer systems for monoplex and multiplex fluorescence tissue staining.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Assist Production Manager with managing IHC workflow and production team to produce RUO, IVD, and ASR antibodies.   This includes some process and method validations including the technical transfer.
  • Primary responsibilities include scoring antibody tissue control slides and assisting in IHC staining design to help improve staining process.
  • Other technical responsibilities include:
    • Performing routine immunohistochemistry (IHC) and immunofluorescence (IF) staining on tissue sections on an automated IHC stainer.
    • Perform Western Blot (WB), Immunoprecipitation (IP) and Coomassie Blue (CB) QC testing as needed.
    • Develop and improve methods and applications to support IHC staining process.
    • Training junior staff to perform QC methods.
  • Contribute to experimental design, planning and scientific execution of research projects
  • General laboratory work includes sample/ reagent preparation and equipment maintenance and housekeeping
  • Should liaison with cross functional teams to achieve project goals 
  • Follow company policies and safety practices, including training, lab safety, record keeping and ISO or GLP as appropriate

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: 

  • M.S or PhD. Degree in any Life Science or Chemistry.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience with immunostaining (immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence)
  • Good understanding and ability to adhere to established quality standards and regulatory compliance requirements for medical device or diagnostics will be a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a fast-paced team environment, working on multiple projects with evolving priorities and deadlines.
  • Superior organizational skills with ability to multi-task and balance complex and routine work activities.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills

Desired:

  • Previous experience in immunohistochemistry, diagnostic manufacturing environment with through knowledge reagent manufacturing activities.
  • Additional experience with fluorescence microscopy, image analysis and automated IHC stainer
  • Experience with scoring control tissues
