Product Information

KE00642 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human CD117/c-Kit ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human CD117/c-Kit. The assay recognizes human CD117/c-Kit. An antibody specific for human CD117/c-Kit has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human CD117/c-Kit protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human CD117/c-Kit is added to detect the captured human CD117/c-Kit protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information

CD117, also known as c-Kit, is a type III receptor tyrosine kinase that plays a crucial role in cell signal transduction. It is activated by binding to its ligand, stem cell factor (SCF), leading to a phosphorylation cascade that activates various transcription factors in different cell types. This activation regulates apoptosis, cell differentiation, proliferation, chemotaxis, and cell adhesion. C-Kit is essential for the development and function of several cell types, including mast cells, hematopoietic stem cells, germ cells, melanocytes, and interstitial cells of Cajal in the gastrointestinal tract. It is also involved in processes such as hematopoiesis, gametogenesis, melanogenesis, and gastrointestinal motility.
