Stability and Reconstitution

Stability and Storage Lyophilized proteins are stable for 1 year from the date of receipt if stored between (-20oC) and (-80oC). Upon reconstitution we recommend that the solution can be stored at (4oC) for short term or at (-20oC) to (-80oC) for long term. Repeated freeze thaw cycles should be avoided with reconstituted products.
Reconstitution Briefly centrifuge the vial before opening. It is recommended to reconstitute the protein in 10mM Acetic Acid containing 0.1% endotoxin-free recombinant human serum albumin (HSA).

Product Description

Animal-free Recombinant Human BMP-7 is expressed in human 293 cells as a disulfide linked homodimeric glycoprotein with an apparent molecular mass of 29 kDa. This cytokine is produced in a serum-free, chemically defined media. Recombinant Human BMP-7 is a homodimeric glycoprotein consisting of two 117 amino acid subunits, which correspond to amino acid residues 315 to 431 of the full-length BMP-7 precursor. The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the TGF-beta superfamily. Like other members of the Bone Morphogenetic Protein family of proteins, it plays a key role in the transformation of mesenchymal cells into bone and cartilage.

Background

Bone morphogenetic protein-7 (BMP7), also known as osteogenic protein-1 or OP-1, plays a key role in the differentiation of mesenchymal cells into bone and cartilage. BMP7 may be involved in bone homeostasis (PMID: 15621726). It is expressed in the brain, kidneys and bladder. BMP7 is also present in several cancers, including breast, prostate, and colon cancers (PMID: 16419056, PMID: 15531927). Overexpression of BMP7 mRNA in colorectal cancer patients is significantly associated with poor prognosis and low overall survival (PMID: 18259822). Recent studies suggest that high-expression level of BMP7 serves as a biomarker for poor prognosis for HCC (PMID: 23179403).
