Background
IL-5RA, also known as the interleukin-5 receptor subunit alpha (CD125), is a crucial component of the interleukin-5 receptor complex, which plays a significant role in immune responses. IL-5RA is a specific subunit of a heterodimeric cytokine receptor that, along with the signal transducing beta subunit (IL-5RB), forms the complete IL-5 receptor complex. IL-5RA is primarily expressed on the surface of eosinophils and is responsible for the proliferation, differentiation, and activation of these cells. It is a key regulator in allergic reactions and asthma (PMID: 21986312; 28913336; 18511250).
