Background
VEGFR3 (also termed FLT4) is a single-pass, type-I transmembrane receptor tyrosine kinase that serves as the principal signaling hub for vascular endothelial growth factors C and D (VEGF-C/VEGF-D). It is encoded by the human FLT4 gene and plays indispensable roles in both developmental and adult lymphangiogenesis, as well as in cardiovascular morphogenesis.
