Product Information
KE01021 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human ADAM8 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human ADAM8. The assay recognizes human ADAM8. An antibody specific for human ADAM8 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human ADAM8 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human ADAM8 is added to detect the captured human ADAM8 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
ADAM8 is a proteolytically active member of the ADAM protease family originally described in inflammatory processes and subsequently in many systems of the body. Increased expression of ADAM8 was observed in other neoplasias, such as high-grade glioma, lung adenocarcinoma, prostate cancer, and more recently, in squamous head and neck cell carcinoma, medulloblastoma, osteosarcoma and breast cancer suggesting that ADAM8 plays an active role in tumour progression. Thus, understanding the functional role of ADAM8 in tumour biology is important.
