KE00670 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human BST2 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human BST2. The assay recognizes human BST2. An antibody specific for human BST2 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human BST2 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human BST2 is added to detect the captured human BST2 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
BST2 (Bone Marrow Stromal Cell Antigen 2), also known as Tetherin, CD317, or HM1.24, is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein widely involved in immunomodulation and antiviral defense. It restricts viral release and transmission by binding nascent viral particles to the host cell membrane. In addition, BST2 is highly expressed in a variety of human cancers and is closely associated with tumor cell proliferation, invasion, migration, and immune escape. For example, in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma, high expression of BST2 correlates with poorer patient prognosis. BST2 is also involved in cell membrane integrity and lipid raft formation, and can activate the epidermal growth factor receptor signaling pathway, thus playing a role in tumorigenesis.
