Background Information

MEIS1 encodes a TALE homeodomain transcription factor (TF). MEIS1 controls various non-neural developmental processe. In addition, MEIS1 regulates neural development in striatum, midbrain, cerebellum, retina and sympathetic neurons as well adult neurogenesis in the olfactory bulb and are also expressed in neural stem cells (PMID: 39578497).
