Background Information
Plexin C1 (PLXNC1) located on chromosome 12 is a member of Plexin family composed of transmembrane proteins. PLXNC1 which was first described in the optic tectum participates in neuron cell adhesion and migration as a target receptor of Semaphorin 7A. In addition to the role in nervous system, there is considerable evidence in favor of the involvement of PLXNC1 in human diseases through regulating immunological response. For example, knockdown of PLXNC1 plays the suppressive role in hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury and lung injury through reducing inflammatory response. Nevertheless, the effects of PLXNC1 on the biological processes of OA remain to be elaborated (PMID: 37853395). PLXNC1 has multiple glycosylation sites, which may cause the observed bands to migrate differently..
