Background Information
TRIM3, a member of the tripartite motif (TRIM) family, also called the 'RING-B-box-coiled-coil' (RBCC) subgroup of RING finger proteins. The TRIM family of genes is largely studied because of their roles in development, differentiation and host cell antiviral defenses. TRIM3 is a mammalian tumor suppressor whose loss can increase the incidence and promote the development of GBM(PMID: 23318451). TRIM3 has four isoforms with the MW of 67-80 kDa and can be detected as 75, 80, 82,85 kDa after posttranslational modification(PMID: 24947043/PMID: 24086586 ).
