Background Information

UBXN7(UBX domain protein 7) is a protein with ubiquitin-binding activity and ubiquitin-proteasome-binding activity. It contains four different domains, namely, the N-terminal UBA domain, the UAS domain, the Ubiquitin Interaction motif (UIM) and the C-terminal UBX domain. The level of UBXN7 will affect the metabolic state of cells. High levels of UBXN7 and HIF-1α accumulation support glycolysis, while inactivation of UBXN7 and activation of NRF2 increase oxidative phosphorylation (PMID: 33444648).
