Background
Thrombopoietin (TPO) is a primary regulator of megakaryocyte development and platelet production in mammals. Human Thrombopoietin constitutively circulates and maintains thrombopoiesis through interaction with its cognate receptor, myeloproliferative leukemia protein(MPL). Thrombopoietin also plays an important role in the maintenance and regulation of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs).
