Ceramide kinase (CERK) is a crucial lipid kinase that specifically catalyses ceramide (CER) to ceramide-1-phosphate. It plays a vital role in biological functions and certain diseases, including aberrant wound healing (PMID: 24823941), obesity-diabetes (PMID: 22465662), mesangio-proliferativekidney diseases (PMID: 25134723), cancer (PMID: 25164007) and neuroblastoma (PMID: 22579669).
