Background Information

The homeobox (HOX) is a specific and widely distributed DNA sequence characterizing genes that are responsive to HOX transcription factors. Homeobox B13 (HOXB13) is one of the numerous DNA-binding transcription factors of the HOX gene family that has been implicated in the development of normal prostate and cancer (PMID: 25825985). In addition, high-level expression of HOXB13 is closely associated with tumor angiogenesis and poor prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma(PMID: 25031711).
