Background Information
BAIAP2L1, also known as IRTKS, is a 511-amino acid protein containing an IRSp53/MIM homology domain (IMD) that bundles actin filaments and interacts with the small GTPase Rac. In addition to the IMD domain, BAIAP2L1 also contains an SH3 domain and WW domain interaction motif. BAIAP2L1 is widely distributed and is an INS receptor substrate. It has a role in actin remodeling and membrane protrusion.
