Background Information

The MAM domain GPI-anchored molecule (MDGA) family proteins are glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchored proteins, consisting of MDGA1 and MDGA2. They are highly expressed in the central nervous system and can act as type-specific synaptic repressors (PMID: 41124857; 38900791). MDGA1 contains Ig and MAM domains involved in cell motility and plays a role in cell migration and/or adhesion (PMID: 35532105). MDGA1 is a glycoprotein containing 955 amino acids with an observed molecular weight of 130-140 kDa (PMID: 35532105; 26776515; 21505559).
