Product Information

KE10151 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The Mouse/Rat IGFBP2 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous Mouse/Rat IGFBP2. The assay recognizes Mouse/Rat IGFBP2. An antibody specific for Mouse/Rat IGFBP2 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The Mouse/Rat IGFBP2 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for Mouse/Rat IGFBP2 is added to detect the captured Mouse/Rat IGFBP2 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information

IGFBP2 (insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 2) is a secreted protein belonging to the IGF-binding protein family, which is widely involved in a variety of biological processes such as cell growth, differentiation, apoptosis and tumor progression. It regulates the activity of the IGF signaling pathway by binding to IGF-I and IGF-II, prolongs the half-life of IGF, and affects its bioavailability. IGFBP2 exhibits aberrant expression in a wide range of diseases, especially in tumors, where its high expression is closely related to malignant progression of tumors, metastasis and poor prognosis. In addition, IGFBP2 plays important roles in physiological processes such as nerve repair, energy metabolism and cell proliferation. For example, it promotes neuronal regeneration and glial cell proliferation, improves insulin resistance, and regulates the cell cycle. In the field of oncology, IGFBP2 can be used as both potential diagnostic marker and therapeutic target.
