  WB analysis of A431 using 87164-1-RR (same clone as 87164-1-PBS)

  Non-treated A431 cells, Serum-free treated and EGF treated A431 cells were subjected to SDS PAGE followed by western blot with 87164-1-RR (Phospho-EGFR (Tyr1172) antibody) at dilution of 1:5000 incubated at room temperature for 1.5 hours. The membrane was stripped and re-blotted with Vinculin (86930-1-RR) antibody as a loading control. This data was developed using the same antibody clone with 87164-1-PBS in a different storage buffer formulation.

Background Information

ERBB1, also named as EGFR, is a receptor for EGF, but also for other members of the EGF family, as TGF-alpha, amphiregulin, betacellulin, heparin-binding EGF-like growth factor, GP30 and vaccinia virus growth factor. Phospho-EGFR (Tyr1172) is a phosphorylated form of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), which is a transmembrane glycoprotein receptor that belongs to the ErbB family of receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs). This phosphorylation event is significant as it activates downstream signaling cascades that regulate various cellular processes, including cell growth, proliferation, and survival. Some scientists call EGFR Tyr1172 as EGFR Tyr1148, the site where the signaling peptide is removed.
