Background
Growth arrest-specific 1 (GAS1) is a GPI-anchored membrane protein that functions as a tumor suppressor by inducing cell-cycle arrest and apoptosis. nitially identified for its ability to inhibit cell proliferation, GAS1 exerts its anti-tumor effects through modulation of the Sonic hedgehog (Shh) and RET signaling pathways, and by suppressing aerobic glycolysis via the AMPK/mTOR axis.
