Family with sequence similarity 54 member A (FAM54A), also known as MTFR2 or DUFD1, is a mitochondrial outer membrane protein that controls embryonic development and cell differentiation. FAM54A is co-transcribed with core centromere/kinetochore components and plays a critical role in bridging proper mitochondrial fission and chromosome segregation.
