Background Information
ABCB7 belongs to the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter superfamily. ABCB7 exports glutathione-coordinated iron-sulfur clusters from the mitochondria to the cytosol in an ATP-dependent manner allowing the assembly of the cytosolic iron-sulfur-containing proteins and participates in iron homeostasis(PMID: 33157103, 17192393). ABCB7 structure and mutation causing X- linked sideroblastic anemia and ataxia (XLSA/A) with disruption of cytosolic iron-sulfur protein maturation (PMID: 10196363,11050011).
