CHICAGO—(August 25, 2016)—Proteintech, the benchmark in antibodies, today announced a partnership with Cell Press to offer two $1,000 travel grants to the 2016 Society for Neuroscience (SfN) annual meeting, the world’s largest meeting on neurological research. Recipients may use the grant funds to cover event registration fees, airfare and accommodations to SfN 2016. SfN 2016 will be held November 12-16 in San Diego. Winners will also receive complimentary registration to the Neuron SfN satellite Cell Symposium (#CSNeuro16): “Big Questions in Neuroscience,” held November 10-11 in San Diego, where their abstracts will be highlighted.
SfN will feature the latest research discoveries in neuroscience research. Nearly 30,000 people attended the meeting last year, including 2015 travel grant winner Markita Landry.
“Last year, I was transitioning to an independent faculty position,” said Landry, assistant professor at University of California, Berkeley. “I was also transitioning from chemical engineering to applied neuroscience. Attending SfN last year was key in contextualizing my work within the broader scope of neuroscience research, and in meeting collaborators who have been instrumental for this transition.”
The travel award is open to any neuroscience researcher based at a university or research institution. Applications require researchers to submit a summary of current research or a copy of their abstract being presented at SfN 2016 to the official contest website. The Cell Press editorial team will select the winners based on merit and intrigue. Only the first 400 entries submitted before the deadline of September 19, 2016, will be accepted, and the winners will be announced on October 3, 2016. All embargo policies set by SfN will be respected.
