Background Information
MIPOL1 (also named CCDC193) encodes a nuclear coiled-coil protein. Germline MIPOL1 variants cause Laurin‑Sandrow syndrome characterized by mirror-image polydactyly. It acts as a candidate tumor suppressor in nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Downregulation of MIPOL1 activates AKT/FAK signaling, elevates angiogenic cytokines, and promotes cancer invasion and metastasis. Restoration of wild-type MIPOL1 enhances RhoB activity and suppresses tumor progression both in vitro and in xenograft mouse models. (PMID: 31609475)
