Background Information

ACSL6 (Acyl-CoA Synthetase Long Chain Family Member 6) is a long-chain lipoyl-coenzyme A synthetase that is mainly responsible for catalyzing the binding of long-chain fatty acids to coenzyme A to form acyl-coenzyme A (Acyl-CoA). ACSL6 is involved in fatty acid metabolic transporter and the synthesis of cell membrane phospholipids, which affects the cell structure and function. ACSL6 plays an extremely important role in the pathogenesis of cancers such as hepatocellular carcinoma, lung cancer and neuroblastoma, suggesting that it may serve as a biomarker and therapeutic target for cancer therapy.
