Background Information
CIZ1, also known as LSFR1 and ZNF356, is a nuclear protein and the binding partner of p21. The full-length CIZ1 consists of 842 amino acid (aa) residues and contains two glutamine-rich domains, three C2H2-type zinc finger motifs, one acidic domain, and one MH3 domain (PMID: 10529385). Dysregulated or point mutated CIZ1 has been implicated in neurodegenerative, autoimmune and cancer diseases.
