Background Information

Granzyme A (GrA, a tryptase) is necessary for target cell lysis in cell-mediated immune responses. It activates mitochondrial outer membrane permeabilization- and caspase-independent cell death pathways by cleaving the mitochondrial complex I component NDUFS3after lys56. Among serine proteases GrA has an unique quaternary structure consisting of a disulphide-linked homodimer of 60kDa linked via Cys93.
