Background Information

The enzyme encoded by human HDHD1A (hHDHD1A; also known as HDHD1, PUDP, GS1; Gene ID: 8226) has activity specific for ΨMP 5'-phosphatase (PMID: 20722631). HDHD1A belongs to the HAD-like hydrolase superfamily. In humans, the enzyme HDHD1A dephosphorylates pseudouridine 5'-monophosphate (ΨMP), and the resulting Ψ is excreted in the urine (PMID: 40409548).
