Background Information

HOXB5 is a member of the Antp homeobox family. HOXB5 is expressed in various tissues, with biased expression in the kidney, colon, and other tissues. HOXB5 plays a crucial role in the development of the lung and gut. It is essential for the proper formation and differentiation of these organs during embryonic development. Hoxb5 exhibits preferential expression in hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) and uniquely marks the long-term HSCs (LT-HSCs) (PMID: 38324932).
